This guy stole a career from me through his Stone Age approach to addiction treatment. Wish I would have sued him for medical misdiagnosis before the statute of limitations ran out. Steer very clear of this dinosaur ...
I was participating in a program in which Dr. Altman was the only psych and I was required to use him. No alternatives. Looking back, if it had been my choice, I would have not used him. His services are very expensive and not very effective, in my opinion. He is not able to clearly communicate concepts and cannot tailor his approach to discussions to anything but technical psych language. He is a nice guy, but really out of touch with real people and real issues. I would not recommend him.
Dr Altman is a great man & Dr. He is intelligent wise & enlightened He has the knowledge of so many things He can be firm about the steps to recovery from addiction But he sincerely listens having an understanding & compassion about the struggles of addiction & what it takes to achieve recovery I was blessed to be his patient & would see him forever if I still lived in Chicago If a fancy is office more important than an absolutely brilliant with wisd0m & experience then see another Dr The Best!
