2020 was a challenging year for all of us but especially for my father who went through a lot of change from losing his wife of 65 years and moving off the farm which he loved He moved into The Nest in May 2020 where he has received great care from home cooked meals, his own room, personal care and transportation to his tri-weekly dialysis treatments. My family really liked the concept of Daughter on Call so we moved my loved one into The Nest. Here's my honest review after having a family member in the home for around 2 years. The Pros: - Most of the staff are wonderful and caring -There's a dog in most of the homes -Home like atmosphere. It is nice there's a piano and common area to socialize. -Garden in the summer even though it is usually over grown with weeds. The Cons: -improper cleanliness of patients. I am extremely disappointed with the service we received. There were serious language barriers that made communication very difficult and, at times, unsafe. Clear instructions were not understood, and concerns were not properly addressed. In addition, there were multiple instances of what I can only describe as laziness — basic tasks were left incomplete, and initiative was lacking. We just moved my wife's dad, age 99, into their home. This has been one of the best experiences we have ever had. He has been living in assisted living for 15+ yrs and we have never had care like this! Even when my mother in law was in public personal care, she did not get this quality of care. The workers are kind, attentive and genuine. The place is a home and the residents feel like family. We are so excited to have made this move and look forward to the care he will receive.

When my dad fell and broke his hip we were devastated! All of us kids live outside the province and with busy work and family schedules, we were unable to help him with his recovery. I heard about Daughter On Call from a lady at Services For Seniors in Brandon. I contact the owner, Gail, and she not only went to visit our dad, but also provided him with services such as meals, helping with medications, housekeeping, transportation and help with his showers.
