This is a ridiculous governmental money suck. Your tax dollars are being wasted hand over fist with this department. From our experience, I can only surmise that the employees are left unaccountable and the department is unaudited. In eleven months, my son with disabilities and difficulty with self advocacy, was left only with counselor reassignments and a few phone calls. Nothing more. This laziness and inconsistency is not appropriate for people with disabilities. He has received no training, no help, no hope.
tends to abandon clients untill THEY need to have an update on file. exercise in frustration that started well before the pandemic and continues to this day.
Make sure you get a counselor that stays on top of your case and gets things done on time. Mine is still in the works…since 2018….and my current counselor is slow to get anything done. I am so beyond over this mess.
I have been with DARs for several years and Kristy has been the best to work with. She, also being hearing challenged, was able to assist me with the appropriate hearing devices and products. She made me aware of devices I didn't know exist and I've been able to enhance my hearing experiences in large crowds, meeting, and on the phone. These folks are excellent to work with but you do have to do your part. Thanks Kristy and staff have been a life changer in my hearing ability.
I'm having a horrible experience with association. The counselor i was assign to doesn't keep me inform on what's going on will my case, She said she was going to let me know something about my within 30 days but it's been over 30 days. I've called the office here in Round Rock several times an also left a few messages an no return call.
