I went down to Needham Hair Boutique for a perm and asked for big, loose waves with some curls at the end, and mentioned Veronica Lake's hair several times as an example of what I wanted. I ended up with hair that looked like it had been crimped with one of those god-awful crimper irons, and then ironed flat, and then crimped again. It was a bad perm any way you look at it -- stiff, frizzy, flat, crimped, my hair (which I had spent several years growing out) was TRASHED -- not to mention looking nothing like "Veronica Lake" ... read more
