November 2014 my life had changed in an instant. Vision was obscured in my right eye, impossible to see. To me this was a high stress, emergency situation. I had called Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston as a new patient, and they too treated my situation as an emergency. I was able to see Dr. Shah that day! the retina in my right eye was detached and my left eye was also in the process of detaching. Dr. Shah was able to make medical decisions on the spot, and scheduled me for emergency surgery without delay. His medical acume... read more

Dr. Shah has been monitoring a chronic eye condition for over 10 years. During that time I've found Dr. Shah to be unwavering in his commitment to patient care and clear communication. Dr. Shah provided pragmatic recommendations throughout the years and when surgery was warranted, performed my procedure flawlessly. Dr. Shah was relentless in his post-surgical monitoring of my vision to ensure that no complications developed. If your vision care needs extend beyond your local optician, I would recommend your first step should... read more

When I needed to have cataract surgery I found out that I had a unique issue with the lenses in my eyes. Three other eye doctors/surgeons turned me away due to the complications my eyes presented. Dr. Shah was recommended as the one who could help and he did. He was very kind and he listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions. I trusted him and would highly recommend him to family and friends.

I first met Dr. Shah about nine years ago when I had an emergency visit to his office in Waltham because I was seeing many floaters in one of my eyes. Dr. Shah was kind enough to see me in between his scheduled patients. The short version is I had a bleed behind my eye with a large tear. Dr. Shah explained to me in detail what was happening, and recommended laser surgery that afternoon. We were hopeful this would take care of my eye issue. Unfortunately, my vitreous wasn't cooperating and I would need further treatment. The ... read more

Dr. Shah is a consummate professional who takes complete expert care of you, in a way that inspires trust and confidence. I have been his patient for more than four years, with a eyesight-saving procedure once a month, and I actually enjoy each visit. He always has a smile, asks asks caring questions, and explains results and diagnoses thoroughly. A delightful person and doctor whom I trust completely!

Dr. Fynn-Thompson performed cataract surgery (one eye) on me in January 2023. I had a total of five visits: a pre-op consultation, the procedure itself, and three follow-up visits. Of course she's technically competent. Lots of physicians are technically competent, and lots of people don't look any further. Beyond that, though, she also showed herself to be a caring human being. Not every technically competent physician is that. Should my second eye need the same "fix" down the road, I cannot imagine a person I'd rather go t... read more

I have been a reader all my life and I have never had a problem with my eyes. I went to see my optometrist to ask for one progression up on my glasses. I noticed that my eyes were getting a bit tired from doing my usual amount of reading. I was told that I needed to have cataract surgery because one of my eyes was very bad. Since I have had that surgery, everything is blurry and I do mean everything. I cannot see anything up close without my glasses. I am also having tremendous headaches every time I do any reading. I believ... read more

He talks to me like I’m a child. Rushes me out, Sometimes he makes me feel like my disease is my fault. I spend most of my time in his waiting rooms.
