The worst restaurant experience, ever – We went to Da Tommaso for a business dinner. We were seated in the middle of the overcrowded room where my husband was constantly bumed into by waiters. The bread was half baked wonderbread in the shape of challah. The food was so covered in gloppy sauce, no one quite knew or tasted what they were eating. My $13.50 appetizer of shrimp wrapped in bacon consisted of two lukewarm, slighty past prime, I contemplated not eating them but decided they were probably safe, covered in thick oran... read more

A Letterman Favorite, but not above #6 on my Top 10 List – After the FABULOUS Tim Burton exhibit at MOMA (sorry...ends 4/26/10...) we tried a David Letterman favorite at 8th & 53rd. I was a little disappointed with the limited, highly traditional menu...kinda like the dinners at at Mama's house the past 6 weeks... a little veal, a little lamb, some pasta...but nothing out of the ordinary. I had the Fetuccini Alla Mama, which was good, but thats about it. My wife had the ravioli special, spinach & cheese. I'll admit, I like T... read more

Put up with the service, the food is worth it – We ate an early dinner at Da Tomasso on a Sunday evening after visiting the Natural History museum. The service was indifferent bordering on condescending. In jeans and t-shirts, perhaps we were not their desired clientele; though most in the restaurants were not dressed up. Despite the mediocre service, the food was very good. The rolls were not, they came to our table having clearly been rewarmed several times over, but everything else was very good. Being a vegetarian at a N... read more

Old School Italian – This may not be the trendiest italian restaurant in New York but it is certainly one of the best. I've been going to Da Tommaso for years and they always deliver classic Northern Italian food that never fails. Have the Penne Vodka and the Paesana salad!

ask for pricing on the specials! – We went and really enjoyed the food and wait service (the ambience is fairly non-existent). The pasta prices are from $12-$18, generally, and I ordered a porcini mushroom pasta special... which was $26!! When the manager came over to discuss this drastic difference in price, he told me I was the only one who complained about the price, and that porcini mushrooms are expensive, don't I know that?? Instead of customer service, we got defensive surliness. If you go, ASK THE PRICE OF THE SPECIA... read more

Neighborhood Italian – A nice place to get some neighborhood italian and very decent service in Hell's Kitchen. You can order off the menu for a real treat, enjoy the decent wine list and reasonable prices.

Bravo!!! – My husband met the owner of Da Tommaso in a local hardware store and they began to talk and he mentioned his restaurant. We thought we would give it a try and have been going to it ever since. We have recommended it to many people and no one has come away with a negative review.

Bellisimo! – This is my favorite NY restaurant in the theater district. The service is great- the food is delicious- and the atmosphere is quaint. My only complaint is that the tables are a bit crowded together- where aren't they in NY??? The desserts are outstanding- especially the tiramisu and the fruit tart. If it's not on the menu, ask for the string bean and goat cheese salad- delicious. be careful when orderibg a "special"- they tend to be qite a bit higher priced than the entrees on the printed menu. Enjoy!

Great place to dine! – We went here late on our last night. I wish we'd found it sooner. Great food, and very friendly and attentive waiter. Only watch out for the refills on tea. While I though we were finally eating economically for once, the cost of tea was outrageous! Being from the south, I assumed (yeah, I know) that refills were free. I found that most places in NYC charge for each drink. Ouch!
