Why is this restaurant closed. What happened? I read a few of the bad reviews but they were overwhelmed by the great ones. Having been a patron for about 20 years and having brought groups of 50 or more who loved the food, the wine and the price we decided that when we did do Groups we would always choose them. We do not do Groups anymore.Four of us were there last year and the host, Mario was an extraordinary host as always, the wait staff was great and the food as usual delicious. WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED?
never again – I've been to this place before and never had any problems. However, when we went to Da Rosina last night, it was a major disappointment. We asked the waiter not to add the cheese to the dish and he refused by saying they don't change or substitute anything. What's on the menu is what they would serve. He was rude and was not willing to listen to anything we said. We finally agreed on one dish, but they mixed up the order, bringing breaded chicken that tasted horrible. In the area that is filled with so many res... read more
MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT – We had reservations for 6 for last evening before a show. Reservations were made 2 weeks ago and confirmed the day before. We were all excited to try Da Rosina based on some reviews. We showed up at the restaurant 15 mins before only to find out that they had filled all the tables. The worse part is that no one cared because they were making their money on walk-ins. The manager/owner was extremely rude and didn't want to even talk to us because he was "too busy". This was a horrible place to leave a gr... read more
Midtown Secret – Hidden in the heart of the theater district this cozy little Italian place is always packed no matter when I went. The service was prompt and professional. The prices were fairly reasonable and the Vodka sauce is worth dying for!!!!!! Make sure you make reservations and go early to find parking.
great pre theatre lunch rest! $20 pre fixe – Went w/ a grp of 5 on a sunday afternoon pre-theatre and this restaurant was PACKED. thank god we had reservations HOWEVER specify front room only! back room is not that nice. =( ... we came early but they had nothing available. appetizers were amazing, food was great and dessert was delic too - all for $20pp! the staff ran around like chickens therefore kinda made us feel rushed but they were on top of everything and we have no complaints! enjoy!
Great experience - well kept secret in mid-town – A group of ten looking for a last minute reservation on a Saturday night in Manhattan is not likely to find very much - if anything at all. Enter Da Rosina. Upon recommendation from family members, I called up and was able to get a reservation immediately. Our table was ready upon arrival, and wait staff was very friendly & accomodating. The price fixe ($24) dinner was a teriffic offer as they allow you your choice of appetizer, dinner and dessert from the a la carte menu. Fo... read more
Excellent food at an excellent price! – What a pleasant experience. My wife were in NY to see a Saturday matinee of Les Miserables. After checking out a couple places we decided to go to Da Rosina for lunch before the show. The menu looked good and the price was nice, $16.00 for the prix fix lunch. We were greeted pleasantly and seated right away. We ordered and were promptly given our drinks and appetizers along with a warm loaf of sliced bread. I had the Polenta alla Bolognese and my wife had a ceasar salad. Both delicious... read more
NEVER AGAIN!!! – Well the food was mediocre, but that doesn't compare to the disgusting service and dishonest staff of this restaurant. We had gone on a Friday night after a show, where two friends and myself were the only people there. We ordered the prix-fixe meal which was okay. However we were unable to finish our wine when the music was shut off and obvious signs of us being rushed out of the restaurant. Unfortunately I had left my cellphone on the table when we left and I had realized it was gone which was about 5 minu... read more
Would Not Recommend – I was very underwhelmed with my experience at Da Rosina. I had the calamari as my appetizer, gnocchi for my main course, and the tiramasu for dessert. The calamari looked like it came straight from Applebees. The gnocchi was served with a sauce that looked like it came out of a Ragu Jar. The Tiramasu was soggy and looked like it had been sitting out all day. Plus tables are stacked on each other, the wait staff is overworked, and the decor is generic so the entire experience felt rushed and impersonal. ... read more
