Due to a childhood phobia, it's been longer than I care to admit since I've been inside a dental office (like 20+ years!) and needless to say I was just terrified of what was in store when I finally decided to be an adult and face the music. This was the first time I have felt like my mouth was mine and not a series of gaps to be generically handled. Scott is truly an artist and a genuine care taker for the oral health and well being of his patients. I appreciate the level of skill, attention to detail, and the warm humor in this office tremendously. I am grateful to have confidence that my mouth and smile have this fantastic team behind them. I found Dr. Updyke on Yelp (he was the only one with 8 reviews). His office did not disappoint. They got me in immediately (they had a cancelation), my hygenist Pam did such a thorough job with my teeth. They are squeeky clean! She also explained what she was doing and I learned why I am inclined to build up tartar. It made me happy to learn something new! Kris at the front desk went above and beyond with my insurance questions, etc. I highly recommend this office!
As always, I was very comfortable sitting in the hygienist chair for my 6 month cleaning. Pam is not only professional when it comes to cleaning and helping me take care of my teeth, she is really kind, always explaining what she is doing. And she is "my kind of humor." The waiting room is nice. The staff seems friendly and competent. And Dr. Updyke is friendly, but professional.
I am often asked why I drive so far to see of all things, 'the Dentist'. I simply tell those people the truth. I like the way his office staff makes me feel. Always a personable atmosphere in the office. The latest in technology, as well as the knowledge to use them. I literally owe my smile to Dr Updyke and his staff, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
