This downtown Tuscan trattoria raises Italian food to new heights. – The Scene Old World and contemporary touches create an urbane atmosphere. Fresh flowers grace every table, while the centrally located open kitchen exudes energy. The man behind the restaurant's concept, Valter Nassi (previously of Il-Sansovino), is ever-present--bidding you welcome, and his attention to every detail is unfaltering. The Food From the house antipasto plate to the flambéed baked apple, the food is spectacular. A classic Caesar salad, richly f... read more

Excellent – I don't know what happened to previous reviews, but they disappeared from this site. So here are my feelings on this restaurant. Outstanding service. Incredibly delicious food. Great ambiance for special occassions or romantic dining. Staff is excellent and very knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. The best Italian and restaurant I've found in Utah. Prices reasonable.

Excellent – My husband and I found this restaurant by the steady stream of people that seem to be entering it one Saturday night. The food was great and the service was exceptional. The host and waiters are very knowledgable.

Dinner Theater – This is an unforgetable trattoria. Valter, the Maitre D' is a performer without equal. With grand gestures and inimitable style he directs himself and the other players in a dining performance that is certain to to win encores and in fact standing ovations. I laughed, I cried (tears of joy and laughter), I applauded. All the while, Valter entertained us and fed us. I hope he enjoys himself as much as everyone enjoys him. Bravo.

Welcome back!! – Welcome back Valter! Salt Lake City needs more comfortable and creative restaurants like Cucina Toscana. The menu permits guests to try the many flavors of Tuscan fare from the appetizer smapler to the pasta sampler to the many half sized portions of the entre's. The flavors are real, the pasta is frest and you are made to feel like you are dining with friends in Tuscany. Well done.

Better than Tire Town – Entertaining an out of town guest, the service, food and ambience were terrific. A great new place, on a par with Martine and Fresco.

Big Night – The owner is everywhere at once and he is having a great time. How could anyone not like this place? I'm sure someone will complain because they had to wait for a table and the food took too long. Look, service does not mean the food came right out of the slop bucket and onto the table but that is what Utahns think. This place is Busssssy, good food takes time, if you're in a hurry eat a big mac. Wine list is limited with not enough glass wines but overall it is a good place. The concrete bunker does make it a li... read more

Bumped by Dee Dee – Had reservations, but they said due to a large party being 45 min late, there would be SOME delay. Other customers relayed similar stories from other visits. Ask host why all others had to be put off for one party. "It is a $8000 party. Pretty much sums up their attitude, so I won't be going back.

Its about time! – This is by far the best Italian in Utah, and compares equally to some of the best in the country, most notably NYC's Felidia! Valter's attention to detail is unmatched in this town. I suggest you have him prepare a menu for you. Everything on the menu is outstanding and almost too reasonable in price Aside from some small service-related annoyances, such as not offering fresh ground pepper, bottled water, etc., this place will be my weekly regular.
