Make sure that when you pay full price for a new item, you actually receive a new item. We bought a toilet recently that was sold to us as brand new. The toilet was delivered and the box had been sliced open throughout and sealed with loose tape. When my plumber arrived, he was shocked that the toilet had been used, perhaps as a floor display, or as a customer return, as it had wax on the bottom and the box containing the seat had been completely torn apart.
