Dr. Wirt treated me for a Morton’s neuroma for 3 years. Every day I walked around with what felt like a sharp rock under my forefoot. After 2 cortisone injections, countless prednisone packs, multiple different types of shoes/inserts/taping, and no improvement, he finally sent orders for an MRI. After the results came in, I was instructed to get a new post operative shoe and “wait it out” by the nurse via phone. Inaccurately diagnosed my son as having toenail fungus and treated him as that for over a year. Made comments when we came back as his treatment was not working. We tried a new podiatrist a few months ago who sent samples out to a lab and found out he does NOT have fungus. She accurately diagnosed and treated it within 2 weeks. Disappointing that he just didn’t even really try.
When he keeps an appointment he is fine. Has cancelled 2 of my 3 appointments. No longer does Diabetic Foot Care. Must be nice to not care about existing patients and not even provide a recommendation. Save yourself a cancelled appointment and find someone else.
Dr. Wirt is one of the best podiatrists in Illinois.
