I am a 79 year old physician still in practice (until I get it right as the old joke goes.) I always had my own lab work done at 3838 Calif on the ground floor and was dismayed when my wife told me that lab closed and there was a new one on the 4th floor. This was as I was rushing out the door to make it at opening time, 7:30 am, having fasted after dinner for annual labs prior to my pcp appointment. This lab used to be on the ground floor for many years. The front desk staff had been for the most part very informed and helpful. Then a couple of years back they got rid of them and closed the lab. Well, the lab recently reopened and is relocated on the 4th floor. Sadly the new personnel are unhelpful and clueless. I would suggest anyone to go to the other lab sites at either the Davies Campus or the Van Ness Campus if you want to be sure your insurance will cover your labs.
Newly remodeled and located on the 4th floor, the space is beautiful, expansive and clean. More importantly, I was in and out in 5 minutes with the help of friendly and professional staff.
Everyone is friendly and I highly recommend Dr Belzar, however unless you have an 8 am appt, dont bother showing up on time for your appt. I am usually admitted 30 min after my appt time. I have been ontime and even 15 min early in hopes to not waste my time waiting but it just does not work, I end up waiting 45 min instead of 30.
Pathetic. I got there five minutes after opening and there were already 10 people waiting (they must have known of the lab's inefficiency). There was nobody to greet and advise you, just a "take a number" dispenser. The lone person intake person was taking 10 minutes or more per patient. Not having a hour and a half to wait just to see if I had a standing order for a pre-annual physical, I gave up an left. This instance was not unusual as wait times there are always long.
