I try not to leave bad reviews but this stay has been terrible. On my first day, I noticed the table in my room hadn’t even been cleaned. I reported it, and the staff moved me to another room, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second room wasn’t much better, it had a hair on the toilet. At that point I didn’t want to go through changing rooms again, so I just dealt with it. The problems continued. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The hotel itself seems to be a block or 2 from everything, making the vast majority of downtown attractions walkable. The rooms are spacious and the building is a historic property with a cool history, only a short 1.5 block walk to the FREE Downtown Connector streetcar. A couple of comfort issues with the room did arise. The A/C seems to switch to heat on its own several times a day and overnight. Arrived into town on day 7 of a work trip, with a bonus day to go to a baseball game. BUSY weekend for the hotel, so no early check-in (totally fine). Left my bags with front desk and went out for a bit. Got back, they remembered my name and got me my room quickly. Went up to my floor and key card didn’t work, but one of the hotel staff happened to be on the floor. The service was absolutely horrible. I was completely ignored when I walked in during the middle of the afternoon and it smelled of cigarettes as a group of employees were out front “smoking”. Other than that the location was alright, but the rooms and staff were extremely subpar! Do better Marriott.
