Ignored everything I said. Refused to set up a treatment plan. Nobody could ever remember why I was even there or what my issues were. Staff told me to 'conact a dermatologist for my cancer.' Dermatologist was confused and couldn't help as it had nothing to do with my skin. Did nothing to help with my migraines from cancer in my neck.
Dr. Cotugno ignored medical history that would contraindicate treatment and allowed his NP to cause injury. Dr. Contugno followed up with me on the phone twice, but due to “office policy” I was not allowed to follow up in person - he only accepts new patients, not current patients who need to see a neurologist. I started going here years ago with a neurologist who left the practice and never was permitted to see a neurologist there again - only nurses and PAs, what is this office policy? I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Cotungo for the first time today, since my neurologist had left the practice. The visit was very pleasant. Dr. Cotungo addressed any concerns I had and was genuinely concerned with my overall health and symptoms with my MS. He was very informative and answered all my questions.
Listened to me before going through the file, had an engaged and informed conversation, took time to explain everything to me, and made additional recommendations.
Never will ever recommend this doctor. Not only did he not LISTEN his bedside manors were horrible!!! The fact he said, and I quote, 'There is nothing I can do for you. If you feel pain again tonight you need to go to a UPMC or Allegheny Hospital in downtown Pittsburgh.' This is after my fiance had been in the ER 3 times in 5 days because everyone was just giving pain medication and dismissing him! Clearly he is not even book smart to figure it out...but we did!!!
He listens to you and calls you with results recommendat ions and reviews results quickly. He is always learning the new information on studies done to keep up with Healthcare today. He cares about you.
After recommending tests, medicine and, of course, his own supplements - He was quick to dismiss my condition. I got the feeling he either thought I was overstating my symptoms or he outright couldn't care less about me. i can't speak for anyone else he may have helped. Maybe he's great... with my limited exposure I can say all he did was bill me...
