Twelve years ago. my family needed help and was referred to COTS. I wish they had the programs they do now so we might have been able to save our house. But with no family in the area we stayed at the shelter on Main Street. With such a variety of personalities living under one roof I can see how difficult it can be for the COTS staff and the residents. I had one issue with a staff and worked it out with them. Very bad experience with crystal lee at the family shelter. She was always rude. Called dcf for taking a nap with kids. Was very crazy. Diffently not helpful at all
COTS does just as much harm as they do good, if not more. They put my son and I into an apartment with another single mother, and then kicked us out two months short of our year lease with only a weeks written notice because we were 'guests of cots' and had no renters rights. Ask around, you'll hear more of the same! PREVENTING HOMELESSNESS?! HA
