Today we said goodbye to my mother-in-law. Watching someone you love transition is one of the hardest experiences I’ve ever been through, but I will forever be grateful and honored that I was able to be part of her journey and be there with her through the end. The staff at Mike Conley Hospice House were incredible. They cared for my wife every bit as well as did the ICU staff at the hospital she spent almost 2 months in before we made the decision to move her to hospice. Despite her being unconscious, they made sure to reposition her every couple of hours and watched her carefully for signs of distress ensuring she was kept comfortable the whole time. Heartbroken and traumatized after watching my husband suffer at the Cornerstone Hospice House in Clermont and Tavares. The doctor in Clermont (Dr. Collazo) left my husband in severe pain the first night and he was always chasing the pain thereafter. He never got ahead of it. He, the manager (Mindy), my husband and daughter, and I, had all agreed that he would talk to us as a team before making any changes, but then he suddenly made the decision to switch my husband back to oral pain medicine and he was preparing to send him ... read more
