Heartbroken and traumatized after watching my husband suffer at the Cornerstone Hospice House in Clermont and Tavares. The doctor in Clermont (Dr. Collazo) left my husband in severe pain the first night and he was always chasing the pain thereafter. He never got ahead of it. Great clean kitchen and rooms and a patio
When the word HOSPICE is heard, so many things come to mind. First, a love one is terminal, and secondly, the loved one will be treated with dignity. My father was terminal but did not receive dignity nor did he receive the care he deserved. If a nurse came to the house that meant I needed to call the main number. He was ignored and no one from Cornerstone hospice cared about his passing...no one from Cornerstone was with him when he did pass. This is criminal. Shameful.
I am almost at a loss for words. How do you thank someone for caring for your dying loved one. It was such a surreal experience to be in that moment, with my dying mother and my heartbroken father. It was an unexpected end to her pain and suffering we did not see coming. Only God did. And He put her right where she needed to be, away from the noise of daily living and in a place of peace and love. I am still in awe of that after two months. We are incredibly grateful for the care my dad received during his final days at the hospice house. When he was still in the hospital and in severe pain, Giacinia, the hospice liaison, moved quickly to get him admitted to the Mike Conley House. Within just two hours, his pain was completely under control. The staff at the house were some of the kindest, most compassionate, and welcoming people we have ever encountered.
