I would advise caution when hiring Mike as a guardian ad litem. In my experience, I encountered biased judgment from her. I do not believe she truly advocated for my children’s best interests, as she appeared to place more weight on the concerns expressed by the mother while disregarding the concerns I brought to her attention. She made recommendations that I later discovered were never followed through on or even communicated to the other counsel. I hope that others have a better experience with her than I did.

I greatly appreciated Ms. Cooper's perspective and wide experience when she consulted in my legal matter. She was compassionate but also realistic, and I felt I had a much better grasp of the situation and possible outcomes because of her involvement.

If Maureen “Mike” Cooper is assigned as a guardian ad litem to your case do everything you can to get her removed. My understanding of the law is that a guardian ad litem is supposed to be unbiased and actually look at both sides while taking into account the best interest of the children. Ms. Cooper absolutely does NOT do that. She felt that she knew what was going on in my case when in fact she really had no idea.
