I have been a YMCA member for many years and have held memberships at YMCA locations in Houston, London (UK), Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Chatham, the Central YMCA, and Cooper Koo. This is the first YMCA where I have consistently had issues. Over 40 years. As an out-of-town Member Plus member, my membership card does not work at the turnstiles, so every visit begins with waiting at the front desk. Been going here for 3 years, mostly good gym for the price with some limitations. Barbell area is decent (6 squat racks) and it's not too difficult to get one after work hours. Can get crowded without designated deadlifting area, but most people will try to share space responsibly. Not enough cable machines for the demand. 2/3 bench presses are too soft, making it hard to arch without a towel. I love going to this YMCA, everything about it is fantastic. For gym prices, the rate is pretty good. Many different types of equipment, a track that goes around the whole place, large windows and a great pool too. Also love the group classes especially yoga. Also everyone who comes feels like they are genuinely coming to work out? Like I've been to sketchy gyms before and this is not like this AT ALL. everyone just seems nice and genuine and like they just want to get fit. Staff are very nice too.
