I have always paid my bills first. Whatever is left over is what I can use for groceries or other needs. Once I had a child though, the money didn't seem to stretch as far as it used to. Enter credit cards. I am not a big shopper. I don't live an extravagant lifestyle. I'm pretty low key and low maintenance.
