Unfortunately, I had a rough experience. The location is in the Ascension St. Joe's hospital, and while the actual Dermatology office is very clean and new, the surrounding building is a dump. Tons of elderly people around and many people smoking outside. It's just somewhere I would avoid, even if the services met expectations. Parking also sucks over there. I visited Dr. Peterson for a painful bump on my back. I explained that it hurt when it was touched, but I was told it was cosmetic and that surgery wasn’t necessary because my skin might keloid. I later went to another dermatologist who believed it could be a lipoma and removed it. The pathology came back as a form of skin cancer. This experience was deeply upsetting because I felt my concerns about pain were dismissed, and something serious was almost missed. Had an appointment scheduled for today and then was informed when I got there that they don't take my insurance anymore and if I want to be seen to pay out of pocket. Talk about a waste of time - a simple phone call would have sufficed to inform me of this matter and would have saved me a trip going out to their office. On top of that they overcharged me my last appointment and made me pay a co-pay when I already met my deductible. Clearly the administrative staff does not know what they're doing.
