Visiting from the Netherlands. Walked from the Capitol Hotel and passed the Community Bakery. You could feel the warmth and friendly atmosphere even through the window. On the way back, I stopped in. Enjoyed a delicious cup of chili and coffee and enjoyed the classical music playing. The only strange thing, no one walking on the street. I will never get used to this in America!

For 10 years Community Bakery has donated dozens of donuts each day to Feed The Hungry, a local charity that serves breakfast 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year to the homeless and the hungry. The owners of Community Bakery have for years hired people trying to get their lives back after going through rough times. This place has been an institution of good food, great service, and compassionate neighborliness for 4 or 5 decades.
