Read the negative reviews! I chose this salon because I'm Asian-American thought they would be great at working with my natural hair texture. I asked for a choppy, short cut and showed several references. They didn't really take my texture into account, only cutting it wet and doing IMO a terrible job at making it "choppy." I also like asking my stylists their opinions on my cut... maybe I lean heavily American and want my stylist to have a POV. Is it cultural politeness thing? This was my first time at this salon, I can't speak for others, but I wouldn't recommend Annie. First, during the consultation, she doesn't listen to what the client wants to do,she pushes what she wants to do. I was trying to explain to her that I booked a touch-up highlight for full head and asked for about the same amount as last time. But,before I could finish speaking, she interrupted with "Yeah, yeah, yeah,I know that " and clearly wasn't listening. Aki has been maintaining my hair like a bonsai tree for at least 20 years. I’ve only seen another person once, while traveling, and regretted it. She’s the best. The salon has survived in NYC for that long, which speaks volumes. Great value. Great heart. Communes of the truly treats you like family.
