Was travelling through and stopped in for a beer with my partner and her sister, ended up staying having dinner and quite a few beers at the bar with the friendly locals and the owners who are absolutely great value. We also stayed in one of the rooms very tidy and comfortable. If you’re travelling through definitely worth a stop.
In main street, lovely old country pub with fireplace for atmosphere. Just there for lunch, sat in dining room for hot lunch & salad bar with good variety. Service was friendly & casual. Food was ok but I know a few people were disappointed in the prawns. My roo schnitty was ok. Desert was a little disappointing compared to some others along the way. Bar had a nice feel & loved the pub dog. Lots of free on street parking.
Rooms were nice, nothing fancy but definitely nice. Bed was comfy. Great owners, great locals, cold beer and great food. I was disappointed with one thing, pretty much my own fault but I bought a brand new cap from a shop in Clare earlier that day and I left it in the room in a bag from where it was bought, this was going to be a present for my son. Great pub run by a great couple - drop in for a beer and a yarn with Stawb and stay for a meal prepared by Mary Louise (I can recommend the lamb shank 😋) and if you end up starting too long, they’ll find a bed for you 😁
What a great place to stay and eat.food was fantastic beer cold room large and clean best sleep in 3 days if I ever do a stupid trip like this one again I will be staying here again Don't forget to talk to the dog outside the pub door he gets lonely
