Questionable medical advice and even more questionable business practice.
~ In Jan 2010, changed my mother & father to Dr Beachs practice. My mother had a stroke in 09 & my father was in relatively good health. I was content with the quality of care until last summer July 10, when my father started to complain of a back ache. He made an appointment with Dr Beach (not the PA or ARNP). During the visit Dr Beach did not preform a physical examination on him, but did mention that his symptoms sounded like shingles. Dr Beach came highly recommended to us, so new to Tampa I took my children there. My daughter needed 5 shots, and right before we got them we were informed of a \$25 admin fee per shot! Not only did I pay my copay for their appointment but this office was going to charge an additional \$125 for her well baby vaccines. We have insurance for a reason, this doctors office should be reported to the better business bureau.
I have used him for 10+ years, the positives are always being able to get a same day visit when you call in sick. The Dr. is very complete with tests and listens to my opinions/requests. On the negative side I frequently end up seeing PA because of my last minute call in.
Daughters and I have gone to Dr Beachs office for almost 6 years. We have always been seen by Nurse Practitioners and have been very happy and impressed with them, only problem is there is a new RNP almost each time weve gone. Weve seen Val, Peggy, Christy, Regina, Bev, Jennifer and recently Mike. Don;t get me wrong - ALL have been very good in my opinion, just wish theyd stay a while! Upon my first visit I had scheduled a standard checkup because that was what my insurance would cover. I was charged a sick visit because I asked specific questions about my health. Isnt that what you are supposed to do at the doctors office? They also billed me and my insurance different rates and charged me more than what I was supposed to be charged under my plan. I was surprised to read the negative reviews, as I had a great experience with this office 2 years ago when I had a health issue. Today, however, I needed to speak to a nurse and had a very different experience. They now sound very rushed, apparently trying to crank out as many patients as possible. Definitely not customer-focused anymore. Must schedule an appointment even to speak to them (presumably so they can capture revenue from every minute). Pretty disappointing. Looks like I need to find another provider.
This doctors office scammed me out of a low co-pay!!! I have a primary insurance with a very high deductable and a secondary insurance with no deductable for GP appointments. Well, come to find out, they do not accept secondary insurances if you have a primary provider. So I ended up paying for the full amount of the insurance (\$120) vs. your standard \$25 co-pay!!! I have always had an excellent experience with Dr. Beachs office. I am not sure of the previous users experience, but it is not the dive that they described. I have recommended this office to my family and friends. I have several professional colleagues who also go to Dr. Beachs office and they only have good things to say about their experience.
