I live abroad and randomly stumbled into Cognoscenti during a visit to LA in September, expecting nothing more than a great cup of coffee. Instead, I had one of the most memorable experiences of my entire trip, largely thanks to Greg Tower. Greg is so much more than an exceptional barista. I had a hot latte, and the coffee was light to medium roast, fruity and flavorful without being unpleasantly acidic. I especially like that the flavor comes from the coffee itself rather than from syrups, creams, or other additions. What stood out to me most was the barista’s genuine passion for coffee. Unfortunately I forgot to ask his name, but he is an older gentleman who has been working with coffee for decades, and it really shows. I came here because the reviews and photos where showing a nice atmosphere, but there is just a grumpy man, that when I asked about the beans (to buy beans) was like “buy this one is the cheapest”. I didn’t even try the coffee…
