Our Property Tax Division bills, collects and distributes ad valorem property taxes for real, personal property, heavy duty equipment, mobile homes and public utilities. In addition, this division processes homestead exemptions and conducts tax sales. They are also responsible for preparing the tax digest each year.

The property assessment for my home went up by 50% in one year (for 2024). I was forced to pay the tax amount based on this value even though I received an official letter stating that I only owed what I paid last year until my appeal was finalized. They don’t answer questions or satisfy GA Department of Revenue requirements of providing documentation to support appraised property values. A written explanation is supposed to be provided and documentation used to determine the value. They just hang up the phone when they don’t like the question and I’m still waiting for ONE piece of documentation to be provided. Terrible communication and policies.
I am taking the time to acknowledge the courtesy and efficiency of two fine people at the property tax office on Dallas Hwy. Ms. Jill Martin and Ms. Cheryl Brooks took the time and effort to process my tax payments and set straight a billing issue. They were most professional and went out of their way to correct a billing issue for me. Many thanks to these kind and sincere folks.
