This place sucks. We’re changing our pediatrician immediately. They have no idea what they’re doing logistically and need some serious help from an admin standpoint. They don’t hold any sick visits for day-of which is insane for a pediatrician. If your child is sick, expect to wait several days to get an appointment. Unbelievably frustrating.
I truly wish the staff here showed more compassion and professionalism. The way children’s health concerns are handled feels careless, and the front desk team’s rudeness leaves a lasting negative impression. Families deserve better treatment. Google should allow negative rating!
My family has been with this practice through years of transitions. It started when my private pediatrician Dr. Harold retired and sold to Seacoast pediatrics. My sister and I (who are now 30 and 37) saw Dr. Shawinsky for years. We lived in Summerville, but our mother would travel to James Island because of how amazing she is. Profits > Patients. Trust the other reviews! You will not be able to get a sick visit. Wellness check ups scheduled months in advance will be "rescheduled" for two months past the initial visit date.
I usually don’t leave reviews, but I feel very disappointed with how this office handles scheduling. The pediatrician, Dr. Maria, is wonderful — kind, knowledgeable, and caring — but unfortunately the office staff and scheduling system make the experience extremely frustrating. When you call, you have to go through a long automated system only for a real person to come on the line and ask you all the same questions again. It’s time-consuming and inefficient.
