At this time I am very disgusted with the practice and how it decieved the patients. I showed up for my last appt (which I didnt know it was going to be my last) The office had moved and I was given the new address on my visit before. I was totally embarrassed by the new office he had changed to. When it cam my turn to see Dr. John Neilson, which I saw in the hallway but wasnt able to speak to him, out comes Dr.Milam (whom I had never seen before)until that day. Dr. Milam was a HUGE help to my family. He is highly sought after in Wilmington and well worth the few weeks I had to wait for the apptment. He really listened to me, was very kind, knowledgeable, and thoroughly explained all the treatment options. His P.A. John has likewise been terrific--my son sees him and has really bonded to him. Great guys!!! Thanks for helping us!!
Doctor Milam is the the ONLY doctor that has EVER taken the time to listen to what Im going through! He didnt just throw some medication at me, or try to get me to talk about my past and boo hoo. He took the time to explain that sometimes it takes a combination of meds to confront the problem and if I wanted to, I could do the boo hooing later, when I felt more under control of my issues, but he didnt force the issue as the other so called doctors have. Dr. Mel Levine highly recommended Dr. Milam to treat our then 14 y/o sons Aspergers Syndrome (high functioning autism). Dr. Levine is a nationally recognized authority in child psychiatry. He is not only a proffessor at the UNC Medical School, but director of its Clinical Center for the Study of Development and Learning. Dr. Levine has also published over dozen books and and numerous clinical research papers addressing the treatment of adolescent disorders. I spoke with Dr. Levine and shared e-mails with him. I have left several messages for Dr. Milams office to return my call in regards to a new paitent. His office has not returned my phone call. When I do attempt to reach his office his answering service does not give an option to speak with someone directly. How absurd is that? Im glad it is not an emergency! His answering service should state that they will return you call in a week instead of as soon as possible.
I too have had problems concerning the office returning calls. They have the most obnoxious phone system. Recently, the Physcians Assistant I had been seeing left the practice and I only found out when I called, left several messages and days later recd a call back, with a barely audible phone # left on my voice mail. I have since tried several times to get through, and dang it, I am tired of leaving messages. I am going to track him down on my own. Never going back there, never reccommending them to anyone! I have had numerous patients who have complained about Dr. Milam. He is not board certified nor is he credentialed as a child psychiatrist, although many patients think he is. I would think twice about having him treat my child or anyone for that matter.
i contacted office in a state of panic. dr millan was very rude to me on the phone. also, i had overpaid the office for two visits back in july 06. i have called almost every week and still as of 12/27 have not received my refund. i never plan to go back or recommend this office to anyone
I wanted a christian psyc to deal with and He was the one I was sent to. I had been with him for three years under very stressful times and he has been the gentelest soul, bringing my beliefs into the entire picture not just my condition. He is honest and trustworthy. I looked forward to my visits with him.
