I have had two back surgeries with the last one being a fusion. I would give Dr Shumaker 10 stars if it would let me. He has been very professional and trustworthy. Great bedside manners and it's always about my needs not what he wants. His whole staff is awesome. Keep up the Great work.

I have had Dr. Shumaker perform neck surgeries in the past and always with amazing results and great recovery--this time I challenged him with pain that I developed after open heart surgery-I had been to many Drs. and even to Mayo trying to get relief-Contacted Dr. Shumaker knowing that he also treats pain--should have went to him 1st--Dr. Shumaker diagnosed the problem and scheduled treatment--today as I am writing this I am 90% pain free and very- very -grateful--Great Doctor !!!

Nice bedside manner but stops there. I don't feel like he listens to a word I say. His assessments are very vague therefore with the need to have another back surgery it is hard for another Physician to feel anything could possibly be wrong based on his notes. Appointments are rushed 5 -10 min. Little or no explanation-answers from this Dr. Back pain is already extremely difficult let alone dealing with a Doctor who seems to feel his surgical procedures were perfect, not admitting to failure.

I was miss diagnosed and it risked my health in many ways of unneeded spinal taps and lack of proper means to diagnose the actually problem. and then no communication when things where not working like they should have. there was no follow up or help when the plans of treatment were incorrect and my strength to even get out of bed was gone. (this is coming from a very active healthy 23 year old) not until I went to a second opinion did i find out just how bad his direction and advice had been.
