I had lived in my apartment from 3/19 until 3/25 the landlord I started with was Russell Simmons I believe, he had met me at the McDonalds and took my money and got me a money order that was 3/19 and I finally was put out 3/25 because there was a new landlord and he supposedly wasn't receiving my checks so I was evicted. After being put out I discovered he was still charging CMHA even through I was out and staying in a homeless shelter. Update- It’s almost been a year. And I still haven’t heard back from CMHA. When you go to CMHA they tell you that (there’s no one to speak to) if you call on the phone, the answering service says (come in to speak to someone) or they take your info saying they’ll call you back..been waiting on that call back . I now own $1700 to my new Apartment company! I moved into my apartment at the end of April. And although I have a new lease with a new apartment building, section 8 sent the rent payment to the old landlord.. Today is ... read more

****UPDATE****UPDATE**** I am trying to receive some help. I am currently a Section 8 voucher holder. I have secured a property to move to. I did not know that section 8 would take past 30 days to approve my package. This creates another problem..... it makes me ineligible for the property that I'm applying for, and all others as well. I find 30+ days unexceptable for a family trying to find suitable housing. It is close to impossible. Most places are asking for 3 to 10 days, that's pushing it.
