Well for one thing it's a classic. The food is EasternStyle BBQ and everyone knows that's the only way to do it. Clyde Cooper has been doing BBQ since 1949 which was my birth year and that has to be a positive. I worked in downtown Raleigh for 30 years and ate at the old location often and never was dissapointed. The best thing there is their pork skins, or maybe it's the collard greens, no it's the banana pudding. The place is worth trying, so do it.
Been eating barbecue from here for years and it's still as good as ever.

I work downtown and its hard to find a good hot full meal without all the bells and whistles. Well at Coopers not only is the food awesome and simple but the staff is very friendly. I've always wanted to try the bbq chicken, but i'm stick on the bbq dinner with boiled potatoes and cabbage. Sometimes i get a combo with either the fried chicken or ribs. Either way whatever you decide to eat just know its gonna be delicious!

Omg amazing loved everything about it especially the pork skins. I loved them so much I even bought a bag to take home. The only thing that I didn't like was that it was cash only but they do have an atm inside.

Being from Winston-Salem,nc just a stones throw away from Lexington I grew up eating pretty much nothing but Bbq and I probably ate at over 75 barbecue restaurants, but there is just something special about this place, you can tell the cook with love, the meat of the chopped que was tender and juicy and delicious, ribs now like I've said I have ate alot of Bbq in my life and their just broke into my top 3 favorite ever!! Ordered food for 40 people, 14 lbs pork, 60 pcs chicken, came with all the sides, plates etc.. Was a huge hit, everything was great! Thank y'all, will do this again!
