Gorgeous View! I have only eaten here for lunch, but the food and service have always been great. We eat downstair and the view is absolutely gorgeous. Great place for a business lunch.
Greatly Improved! – We have gone to the Cliff House off and on for years. We stopped going for quite some time because of rude service and prices were too high. Since it has gotten new owners it is getting better and better. You can really tell someone has decided to breath life in to the old place.. We have eaten there several times in the past couple of months. It has been great! Our only complaint is they play the music too loud. The music is good but you can't talk to anyone at your table because you can't hear.
Good Restaurant The food is pretty good here. The atmosphere overlooking the water is really great. We usually go downstairs and eat in the lounge, which is easy and quick. The restaurant staff is really friendly, and the pricing is OK.
Class Act If you are looking for a nice dinner the Cliff House is the place to go. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Not to mention the restaurant looks out onto the water making your experience that much better. Be prepared to pay a lot but it is SO worth it!
gorgeous view, beautiful restaurant, wonderful fare Dinner to piano music overlooking Commencement Bay and all of Tacoma including the Narrows Bridge. The food is great as is the service; a real classy place. Prices aren't terrible.
It's a shame: Tired, old, worn out restaurant with a great view – Walking in, we were instantly confronted with the antique/aging decor. If anyone has seen Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America, this is the best candidate for that show I've ever seen: It's a near death restaurant with a tired menu and tired embiance. wonderful salmon, beautiful view of Rainier – Went for lunch. Not crowded at all. Wait staff was a little slow. Took a while to get our food. But it gave us time to enjoy the view of Rainier and watch some seals in the water. The food was great. Best salmon sandwich I've had in the area. Bloody Marys also good and spicy.
JUST DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!! – Veiw is of the pulpmill.... need I say more? If so, the lobster was ruined by the chef... twice. I would recomend, for the price, going further north. While I am a local and want the revenue for the south sound, The Cliff House Restaurant is not the place to bring your mate for a romantic dinner. Please go north or even south for that matter, Tacoma has some wonderful and romantic places to eat for the same money.
