PLUS: Atmosphere was nice but I was hoping for more of a Cheers type experience. Location and proximity to the Back Bay was nice. Staff was friendly enough without being chatty. NEGATIVE: A Boston bar with a ton of IPA on tap and just one stout and a couple lagers. So sad the the Gen-Z and their fetish for saying “IPA” has driven the beer list of even the Boston bars. I am quite disappointed as I have had some great times at Clery’s. This last time was quite jarring though. I was with a group of international people and the person who paid mistakenly did not tip as she thought it was included. It was an honest mistake. The bartender, Carmen, stormed over and verbally attacked us in the rudest manner. We were surprised by the behavior which was so violent that my friend who paid was editing the tip as she felt embarrassed. Carmen the bartender is super aggressive if you don't leave her the tip that she expects. She will literally throw your drink out and kick you out afterwards and have her manager "back her up" when they did provide the worst possible service ever. Seriously be careful coming here. Also felt highly discriminating their attitude once they heard me speak another language that was not English. Very sad to see this type of behavior nowadays.
