I picked out a home there and the salesman's name is Shawn Hucks. The first thing they want from you is 2,500 out of pocket. He tried to explain the cash upfront was to make sure I was committed. He couldn't even get my name right. I gave Shawn the phone number, and email of my VA lender. This was on 7/10/26 ,and now it is 7/24/26. Clayton Homes in Chillicothe Ohio is an absolute joke. From their customer service (lying, deceitful, ghosting, not returning calls, and etc.) to their contractors whom put in the home, to the ones that run the cords, the piping, water, furnace, fan, etc. are absolutely the worse. You should have to have pay for out of pocket expenses several times a year due to their laziness and poor service. Stay away, far away. You'd feel more in home in a cardboard box with less hiccups and grouchy women to talk to about fixing things.
