Ate at Claw & Hammer for the second time, the first time had mixed results for me...but this time it was a great experience. We ordered the Grilled Swordfish, with appetizers of Lobster Bisque, some oysters and New England style Calimari. The appetizers were good size portions and full of flavor. What amazing food is coming out of their kitchen. So impressed! It is loud if you hit it on a busy weekend. Best crab cake ever. Stone crabs are so good. Worth the trip in to Newport for this place.
A Great Second Visit, Claw & Hammer Got It Right! I had visited Claw & Hammer several months ago shortly after they opened with my daughter, and unfortunately, that experience was disappointing. We weren’t waited on for about 15-20 minutes, so I left a negative review. What impressed me, however, was how the management responded. It is unfortunate that we did not enjoy this restaurant at all and we were looking very forward to eating here. We had the octopus appetizer that was not cooked all the way through. For dinner, the black COD also not cooked and had bones. I will add the crab cake it was good, but we will not be back. The staff did try to accommodate us. But we already had a bed taste.²
Scallops were cooked perfectly. Pasta was fresh and had generous amounts of lobster and sauce. Great food and service overall!
