I wasn’t going to bother to take the time to post a review but then felt like I would want complete transparency in a review when searching for a new doctor. I came into the office 15 minutes before my appointment and noticed a computer to check in. During this “check in” I paid a $15 copay, filled out info, and the last thing it said was to sit in the lobby and wait for someone to call my name. to begin with, front desk was oddly rude claiming that “the doctor is upset now” because i checked in through my phone… doctor was very dismissive & rushed the whole process. I wasn’t able to explain all symptoms/ ask questions without her dismissing It & eventually leaving the room. she literally had one foot out the door while i was asking her follow up questions. no tests were done to address my concerns, I am extremely disappointed with this encounter & definitely will not be returning to this doctor.

When I moved to NYC last year, I found Dr. Portella on one of those doctor recommendation sites. We met twice, both times she basically shamed me for being on antidepressants, asking if I “really need them.” I explained that the few times I’ve missed a dose or 2, my emotions are all over the place and I get worse/more panic attacks so yes I depend on the meds to keep my anxiety in check.
