This long-lived Mecca for Yale students and other fans of fresh vegetarian specialties has been a perennial "Best of New Haven" winner for its soups, salads and sandwiches, and its desserts and pastries are renowned around campus. There is always a long wait at lunchtime, so get there early and order fast; the place is packed. Convenient to the shopping area of Chapel Street, to the New Haven green, and to the Yale campus.

I love my meat and potatoes, but my wife is gluten free. I can always find something great when I eat here. Eggplant parm is a favorite, also the Buffalo "chicken" burrito surprisingly meat-like and is twice what I can eat!

Stopped there tonight eating it all the way up in Wethersfield! We need more restaurants like Claire's! But it can't be duplicated.
We visited Claires for the four years that our son was at Yale. Amazing restaurant, amazing people. The food was always satisfying--great portions and really creative! I like the atmosphere, and whether it was warm or cold weather, there was always something for everyone to enjoy. Wonderful stews, flavourful salads and side dishes. We always had to keep room for the yummy desserts. My son always came in for the 'Bulldog Smoothie" (I think I got that right) and the burritos were heaven!!! I'm hoping for a visit in February!!
