RecommendedFYI: I lived here during the 2018-2019 academic year. Very close to campus. Response to maintenance request is quick. Friendly management. Also, you can have decent and quite room and living space, which can be extremely valuable, especially for graduate students who prefer to stay quiet in their own space when they have some free time.
management is very unwilling to work with their students in anyway and they can be very rude when responding to emails. Each year the rent went up $30-$40 with very little improvement to the rooms or buildings(the final straw was that for 2018-2019 it was going up $80 a month. we were gonna pay almost $1400 for 632sqft and utilities). City Station is a last resort for many students who can't afford to visit Troy ahead of coming to campus, and as a result, they are paying a higher price than any other residence in downtown Troy. The rooms are ridiculously above market value with 3 or 4 roommates! In my case for 2012-2013, that was fine, because as a Domestic long term student I was able to move out my second year, but many MS or International students do not have this luxury. Horrible management..waste of money. try to find a place somewhere else in Troy.
overpriced with non flexible management that wont allow you to stay 6 months instead of full year
Much more expensive than equivalent housing in Troy.
I had a very positive experience when I lived there and management was very responsive. I'm very concerned about some of the current business practices I'm hearing about and some of the verbal promises made to residents and reneged or not followed through on writing. I really hope that the new and current management can interact with and listen closely to RPI students to best serve their needs and those in the community.
