Welcome to Citizen Canine! Im Jolie Frabotta, the proud proprietor of Chicagos first cage less boarding and daycare facility for dogs. Owning CC is truly a dream come true for me! I have a huge passion for animals and have four amazing dogs of my own who tend to keep me on my toes! Three Chihuahuas, Jayden, Joshua and Chi Chi and one black lab, Belle... They are the reason why I feel its important that all of our pets be treated like they are part of our CC family!Since 1995, Citizen Canine has worked at innovating the healt... read more

Caring and trustworthy – I am really impressed with the level of service I receive. Citizen Canine is the only place in the area I trust with my dog. They seem to not only set their standards high but they actually do what they promise, unlike many other boarding/daycares I have taken my dog to. A personal touch with the owner you can tell she cares. I highly recommend them!
Best dog-grooming we've ever had! – Our dog was skittish from previous bad experiences, but our vet at Animal Medical center recommended Citizen Canine. What a turnaround! She immediately responded well to Oscar, the groomer, and from her first haircut on, the results have been fabulous. She doesn't resist her appointments anymore, and is happy when she sees Oscar. Whatever variations in haircuts we ask for, we get. His work is artistic, professional, and best of all, he is kind and gentle with our dog. Each haircut is beaut... read more
Response to Citizen Canine – The owner was kind enough to return my calls and after a brief discussion, we discovered that I've lived across the street for 10 years, I am a dog lover and owner, and I was concerned about the dog. I have no problem living near a kennel (I was here when it was it dog training establishment). I am willing to retract my review, and should advise that my intent was not to malign their business. I'm aware that some dogs suffer from extreme separation anxiety and that could well have been the proble... read more
Business response:
FALSE- CC has been a licensed kennel in Chgo since 1995. this is a new tenant who moved next door who clearly didn't know they were moving next to a kennel or who doesn't like dogs. I'm sorry if the barking woke you up, we try our best to keep it down but dogs do bark when they hear noises outside. To slander us and make false and malicious statements with the intent to harm my business is uncalled for. We have a great reputation in the community and are vet recommended.
In Response to the Review by "mojlovesdogs" – Re: complaint about our customer service...this is completely false. Here are the facts: This lady was not a potential client. She was parked in our loading zone drinking coffee and chatting with her friend for 35 minutes. She was asked nicely to move and was told we have live animals being dropped off and that the loading zone is for dog safety. She flat out refused to move. Wow- and you own dogs?? Really? We wrote down her license plate and called the police (We have documented... read more
worst customer service EVER!! – While they may have more amenities than other doggy spas in the area, they have a serious problem in the customer service department! My family just moved to the city from Ohio and we were looking to find daycare service for our two adult golden labs. While we were shopping around our friends told us that we had to check out Citizen Canine. It turns out that their location was extremely convenient because my partner works on Clybourn right next to their building. Since it came so highly recomm... read more
Business response:
You were not a potential client nor did you have a dog w/ you.You were parked in our loading zone and were asked nicely to move and when you refused we got upset. We took down your license plate and called the police (We have proof). Clients who were dropping off their dogs had to park and walk across the street in rush hour traffic. The loading zone is for client/dog safety. I have 2 clients who witnessed this. You were the one in the wrong. Did that ever even occur to you?
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE This doggy spa and daycare center is not one that I can recommend. The staff there is rude, unprofessional, and should not be trusted with your pets. When you are paying so much money for doggy daycare, you deserve to be treated like a normal human being, which means staff members should NEVER cuss at you. Do not waste your money on this place because you will only be disappointed in the long run.
A Partner in Pet Care – Citizen Canine is such a find! I've been taking my 14-month old, energetic black lab (Lucy) there since she was six months old. And even though I now work from home, I continue to take her 1-2 days a week so she can play and see her pals. She loves it!! She drags me down the street to get to the door in the morning and she comes home happy (smiling) and exhausted!! I love that I get a full update when I pick her up (including pics on many days) on who she played with, what she did, how she behaved, et... read more
Peace of mind – The staff at Citizen Canine are the very best. They are professionals in every sense of the word and we never have any concerns that our dog will be well cared for. The facility is clean and well supplied. When we drop our dog off for daycare or "camp" when we're going on vacation, we feel as though we have left him with a member of the family.
Home away from home – Citizen Canine is a cageless facility which allows dogs to freely socialize, make friends, and play all day long. My Tyler, a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix, is a little ball of energy, and he is thrilled to spend the day there. When I take his daycare collar and leash from the cabinet, he goes wild with excitement and anticipation. When we get to the facility, he paws at the gate as if to say, ?C?mon, c?mon; hurry up!? Jolie, the proprietor, cannot get him inside fast enough. Tyler never balks at spending time at... read more
