Go somewhere else – I was having a day out with my boyfriend for out one year anniversary. We had an amazing lunch that day at a brazilian restaurant called Porcao (Park at 26th St which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!) and then went to see Cirque du Soleil At MSG which was also great. To top off the night we went to Cipriani as we had never been there before and heard the name a few times. Let me just say I am honestly sitting in my apartment drinking right now to forget about the experience. It was the brightest restaurant I've been... read more

Secret Society – I don't like reading the reviews of people bitching about the food or the service... it doesn't really seem like they are "getting" this place. Don't go there unless you are in the mood to play. If you're not gonna glam it up and and get into your best gear and put on a smile a double kiss/grease the waiter and cha cha your way to your seat... there is no point in going. You might as well go somewhere on the upper east side for an early bird special... or better yet sit home in your pajamas and make your own... read more

Avoid this place – Cipriani Docli was not good, even for a train station cafe. We came here for lunch. We were asked to wait for a table, and then forgotten about. We had to come back and insist that we were seated. The service was completely inadequate. I asked for water with no ice, they put ice in it. The tea was brought to the wrong person. The waitress decided that we wanted to share the entrees, when we did not. There were many other small infractions, which amounted to an annoyance. The staff was downright incompetent... read more

Avoid this old relic! – With their current $10 million IRS tax evasion charge and the possibility of the feds shutting them down and the owners going to jail, I thought we should see what the fuss is all about. The man guarding the entrance in the way too tight tuxedo asked "doo... you have a... re...ser...va...cion?" I almost started laughing because it reminded me of a Steve Martin bit. Clearly he was no more french than the actor Antonio Banderez whom he looked like. It should have sent us running but there were four (one... read more

The Sherry-Netherland's haute Venetian restaurant and celeb magnet still charms, even in its renovated reincarnation. – The Scene The prim dining room, with its wood-covered walls and a tiny four-seat bar, holds a crowd of jacketed men and effortlessly beautiful women. Regulars are greeted by name, a bevy of white-jacketed waiters scurry to-and-fro, and a table of dolled-up women sing happy birthday to an old friend--it's just another night at this highbrow "Cheers" for New York's old-money set. The Food For a celeb-magnet r... read more

i was so excited to try cipriani. the place was jammed (which i expected) and my friend and i were told it would be a 5 minute wait. after 30 minutes, we continued to check in with the host, who assured us that we were next. we were waiting for 1 hour before we were seated (people who came in after us were seated first--when we asked the host about this he mumbled something, but couldn't provide us with an answer). belinis were tasty (not overally special) and the food was just okay--salads were wonderful, pasta was SO taste... read more

Excellent Service – I'm surprised by the negative reviews of this venue. I held a corporate cocktail party at this venue last night and we had excellent service. Cipriani did a fantastic job of accommodating a 40 person group on 2 hours notice. The food was great as well. The manager, Fabio and waitstaff couldn't have been more attentive if they tried.

Why do people go here? It's terrible. – TERRIBLE service. Mediocre, poorly presented, over-priced food. And yet somehow they have buzz. AVOID.

Go Elsewhere – Maybe the worst culinary experience I've ever had in New York. The maitre'd is incredibly rude and yelled at his waitstaff. There are a million waiters - probably a 1-to-1 ratio - but somehow the service is horrible. My friend had a chocolate cake spilled on him and no one offered to pay for the dry cleaning. A waiter took my meal when I was halfway finished. The food is mediocre and incredibly over-priced ($25 hamburger and $17 mimosas). The space is way too crowded, so much so that the people watching isn't ... read more
