Don’t make the mistake that I did and assume they will be transparent about the bill you’ll receive after a procedure. I assumed they would make a reasonable effort to let me know my insurance would not cover any of it and I now owe $13k+. They may or may not have sent me a notification on MyChart, no one is sure about that. They sure as hell didn’t call or send it in the mail. I am definitely researching whether this violates the No Surprises Act.

I want to start by saying that my experience with the clinical staff—my doctor, the PA, and the nurse—has been very positive. They have all been professional, attentive, and helpful throughout my care. Unfortunately, my experience with the front office staff in the gastro department has been the complete opposite. Had a regular office visit with the NP. Christus not only charged my insurance for the office visit fee of $289, BUT ALSO a “ facility fee” of $499!!!! When did it become acceptable to charge the patient for a building use fee just to walk in a doctor’s office???? Christus- you will be losing our business!!

Everyone working in the GI clinic is professional and polite. The building, grounds, and large, free parking lot are all clean and very well maintained. The restrooms are appropriately stocked.
