After being given a very grim diagnosis and outlook, Dr. Sumey helped my then fiance - and us- chart a path against odds which ultimately led to an outcome beyond our hopes and dreams. 15 year hence, we will be celebrating our 15 year anniversary. Intelligent, compassionate, easy to talk to, and a strong patient advocate. An exceptional physician and an outstanding individual.
No bedside manner, huge ego and can get frustrated with too many questions being asked. We will be looking elsewhere.
We have developed trust for Dr Sumey through how well he has treated a beloved family member's cancer with minimal side affects and appreciate that he takes the time to answer all of our questions (patient & family) without making us feel like we don't know enough.
Stay far away. His lack of understanding with basic pharmacology is dangerous. He argued with a pharmacist and insisted he was right regarding a medication when the pharmacist went to school for medicine, not him. He gas lights patients and invalidates how they are feeling with cancer symptoms and side effects of medication. He shouldn't be practicing medicine in any hospital, let alone an oncology department.
