Dr Summa is a highly skilled and delicate surgeon.I have had 2 surgeries with him now, a laminotomy foraminotomy of my L5- S1, in which all my symptoms were gone upon awakening after surgery and I was off pain, meds in two days and up and about.After that, I had a fusion of C5 -6, again, my symptoms were relieved upon awakening and I was off pain meds in about five days. I feel terrific.He is a very kind and A good listener and a good explainer. I would highly recommend him to anybody who needs spine surgery.

I've seen many orthopedic and neurosurgeons and Dr. Summa is the best. He did a very difficult lumbar fusion for me in 2012 and I am now seeing him for a serious neck problem. After seeing 2 surgeons at Stanford for this same problem, I can't express how happy I am to be back with a doctor I can completely trust. I am frankly shocked to see anything negative about him here..

I got opinions from 3 different highly rated orthopedic surgeons for bad lower back pain. All recommended spinal fusion. I went to Dr Summa as my 4th opinion. He reviewed the other doctor's write-ups, my X-ray & MRI and said "I don't think the pain is coming from your back? I think it's your right hip!" Sure enough, I went to an ortho hip doctor & he confirmed I had a labral tear, bone spurs, and a compacted bursa. I'm now pain free. Dr Summa is an honest doctor - thank you Dr. Summa!

I have have nine surgeries over the years, I have had multiple procedures done at Stanford and UCSF, I have seen many specialists not only at all of the above facilitys but, locally as well. The point being, Dr. Suma is definitely one of the most conscientious, kind, grounded and more importantly is a excellent surgeons I have ever seen. Ask any medical professional or patient for that matter, in town and they will tell you, we are lucky to have Dr. Suma in Santa Cruz county. Love the guy..

I've had several surgeries w/ Dr Summa and I've no complaints. Always felt informed and comfortable after we both discuss the situation. Been through a lot w Dr and Surgeries and came out pleased given the circumstances.
