I expected a high-quality experience from a fee-for-service practice charging premium rates, but communication was terrible. The doctor never calls directly—messages are relayed through staff, like a game of telephone. Emails get phone calls back with staff reading a note from the doctor, and any follow-up means more calls. I share this with much disappointment. I looked at the reviews sections for stories of Dr. Pena assisting women with perceived fertility issues, achieving pregnancy naturally without IVF but I found none. I think the reason could be the price tag. Each visit is $250 go discuss test results, which in my case it was blood tests and stool results which sometimes resulted in her prescribing expensive vitamins/supplements for me to take to then retest blood/stool, followed by repeat tests and then paying another $250. Dr. Peña has been one of the best doctors I’ve had. As not only a functional gynecologist, but also a functional doctor, I love that Dr. Peña takes the time and the effort to get to the root of the problem without just putting a Band-Aid over it or only addressing the symptoms. She had a hunch that I had an infection in my uterus that ended up not only being an infection, but also there were fibroids and ulcers. I visited Dr. Pena in October to inquire as to hormonal pellet therapy. It was a very expensive consultation just to view my options for hormonal therapy. I waited two hours to see her. Then, after meeting her, she gave me an explanation that lasted a long time about the consequences of my covid vaccinations and how this lowered my chances of being a candidate.
