GOOD pancakes Pricey, but Marion's pancakes are delicious. Don't order the chai tea, unless you like the taste of lavendar hand soap!
good food, bit pricey for what you get – a fun place to bring the kids. a bit over priced
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! – On Septermber 27, 2009 I called Chow Lafayette and spoke with a "Manager" named Debra. I had left my driver's license in the market area while writing a check. First, it took me being transferred and put on hold three times before I could find anyone who even seemed to be aware that I had a simple question. I was told by Debra "I don't have time to check; we're just too busy." Just to be sure, I asked her what her name was, as this is unacceptable conduct from any restaurant. She hung up the te... read more
Chow Restaurant is good for a date, but nothing else The atmosphere was pleasant. The servers were fairly attentive. Not a place to bring a baby. Small portions and over priced. Would not recommend to families with small children, or those looking for a big hearty meal.
Properly named "Chow" to chow down anything here – On the suggestion of my mgr, who's taste buds I totally agree with, we stopped in @ Chow in Lafayette (end of June '09) for a late lunch. Just pleased all the way around & would come back as well as recommend ;-) LOCATION: On Lafayette Circle right off of Mt Diablo Blvd in the shopping center really w/ a lot of other restaurants & shops. Location pulls in a lot of traffic from locals, shoppers, & college folks from St. Mary's. RESTAURANT: Spacious, breezy, loud, friendly, & ... read more
Good Eatin... – If you are in a hurry and want a quiet atmosphere this place is not for you. However if you are looking for a great time with friends and enjoy the hustle and bustle of a restuant which feels alive, then you've come across the right place. The wait staff is an ecletic goup of twenty somthings who are very polite. When I'm not feeling the loud crowd I order to go. I usually like to hang in the market section and try the different wines while I wait. I usually frequent Chows once a week.
Food fine but service horrible! – Have had some good food at Chow's but our last visit was unbelievable. After 20 minutes we didn't have our drinks. It took another 20 minutes for the first dish to arrive. My wife had nearly finished her meal and mine STILL hadn't arrived. We complained and were confronted with the host storming to our table and slamming his fists and asking "Have a problem?". I got angry and he threw us out. Would never go there again. There was no excuse for service that bad and definitely no excuse for th... read more
Crappy service and not worth the prices – I occassionally go to Chow because it is one of the few semi-decent places to eat around the Lafayette/Moraga/Orinda area. This is why most people go here, which makes this place packed every night of the week. If you're lucky enough to get on the good side of the bitchy hostess and actually get a table, you'll be sitting so close to the people next to you that you will inevitably become fast friends! The menu is very limited and if it weren't for daily specials that are pretty decen... read more
Fresh food in a cosy, family dining environment – I have become a regular at Chow recently. Their food is so fresh, and I am not referring to just their veggies alone. Try out their extra juicy pork chops and their exquisite flank steak served on a warm salad. The wait is a bit annoying sometimes but if there is just the 3 or 4 of you, sitting outside under the heat lamp is very cosy. Service, is a bit mediocre but we live close by and it is an excellent place for a casual night out. Great desserts too!
