Overpriced – The food was ok, but overpriced. Also the menu was pretty limited. I wouldn't go back unless someone else was paying.
Choptank, Don't bother. – The place looks fine, lots of nice white marble counters, (someone's been to Pearl Oyster Bar) a bit of a clunky outdoor space but the annoyance starts as soon as you look at the menu. $6 for a 12 oz beer, $10 for a 20oz beer, but the problem is, the 20oz glass looks exactly like a pint glass! When i point that out to the bartender, he shrugs, "It's a pint glass, those are our 20oz glasses" Thanks for nothing. Now i'm doubly annoyed. My friend and i went for lunch, had a dozen oysters (which were go... read more
Asked to Leave and Give Up Bar Stool - Ridiculous – I'm leaving a comment (similar to what I emailed the owner) to share with others my negative experience this past Friday night. If not for the wonderful bartender (Leann - I believe was her name) I would not have been so calm about what happen. My wife and I arrived at 6pm and sat at the oyster bar having a drink and appetizer. By 6:30 two more friends arrived and we order more drinks. By 7 we looked around at the many empty tables and tried to sit down. The host would not ... read more
DMANBURGER "Choptank" – DMANBURGER “Choptank” March 6, 2010 On Bleecker and Grove Street in the restaurant saturated West Village, lies newly opened Choptank. Named for the river that flows into the Chesapeake Bay where the owners grew up, this upscale seafood shack is inspired by the very cuisine of that Maryland region. Native proprietor Bobby Werhane famed for other well-loved comfort spots such as Dell’Anima and L’Artusi, came together with Chef Matthew Schaefer and culinary servant Kevin Patricio, featuring a varietal m... read more
Great Chicken? Think Again – I saw a review that was written in one of those papers that are handed out at the subway. The reviews about the buttermilk chicken left me wanting to try the place. Well, let me just say the reviews were 100% wrong. The chicken had no flavor at all. Salt and pepper are not seasonings. They may help enhance the flavor, but they do not add flavor. Fried chicken need seasoning. They also fail to cook the chicken. They focused on the chicken looking “light and airy” as the waitress kept saying. The c... read more
Amazing food and service – Choptank appears to be Maryland inspired with a southern twist. It has all the makings of your favorite fish shack with Old Bay beckoning to you from the shelves and hosts, servers and bartenders that want and care for you to have a great experience. Ended up here midweek and was greeted by 2 pleasant hostesses that were nice enough to accomodate us. But resies are recommended. We enjoyed a drink at the main bar while waiting for a spot to open up at the walk in raw bar. There was a nice, energetic... read more
