Although the chocolate is indeed very good, the owner is truly unpleasant. He has got to be one of the most proud, pompous people I have ever met. He is snarky and thinks he is the greatest gift to God's green earth. So you make fancy chocolate in a dim lit, dank store in Rockford...save your money, it won't make up for the service and attitude you will receive here. It was the most exquisite piece of chocolate I have had. My mouth and taste buds were so happy. A true gem of Rockford. Mr. David is a delight.
This place is special. You can forgive the somewhat cluttered esthetic inside because this guy is clearly some type of passionate genius. He derives flavor inspirations from classic literature and infuses literally garden grown ingredients into his chocolate creations. He refuses to use cheap artificial sweeteners. Very rude owner and just awkward. The places smelled horrible and it was dark and just seemed not well kept. My daughter wanted a piece of chocolate and he stated she was not ready for a piece of his chocolate. Not sure how this place is still in business. We left and his reaction was “success” and jumped for joy.
