Sad to say, when I was younger, I was placed in the Nanticoke Group Home when it was new. It didn't feel ready. Everything wasn't in place, nice... I haven't gotten over the theft of something very sentimental to me and a little valuable. My grandmother died and left me her amethyst engagement ring, the stone sounded loose, a staff member, Jane, said her husband or someone was a jeweler and could fix it. Long story, Jane took it, and she never gave it back. I was vulnerable and taken advantage of and stolen from just one mor... read more

I spent 10 months at the CRR almost ten years ago now, in 2015 when the facility went from an all girls facility to housing men as well. There is no reason for young men and women to be cohabitating together under these circumstances, other than a lack of funding. If the priority and safety of those girls were put first, it would have stayed a gendered facility. 99% of sexual assault aggressors are men. Everything wasn't in place, I rewrote their level system and surpringly some of it was accepted. Nice...But what I haven't gotten over was the theft of something very sentimental to me and a little valuable.
