We’ve been here few times this summer. This Lagoon is located close to Skokie Botanic Garden. Very nice and quiet place, surrounded with nature and animals. We met deers both times, storks, different birds. And one time there was something magical - mama deer was swimming with her baby deer across the lagoon from one side to another, it was so cute and unreal That’s a good way to spend your weekend with friends or family, they have single and double kayaks.
This was the coolest paddle I’ve done in a long time! I slowly moved around the island and the duck weed told me that nobody had been through in a while. The wildlife was CRAZY!!! I saw the usual suspects (geese, ducks, herons) green herons, night herons, juvenile I don’t know what- feathers of a hawk, body looked like night herons, swarms of swallows around me and the boat, deer and fawn, deer carcass (that’s a new one!) eagle circling and then landing in the nest.
