Started in Newburgh, NY, this restaurant is named for the Chianti region in Italy in which the owner was born. When he "retired", he moved south and opened his restaurant in a restored colonial in Little River; hence, Chianti South. The menu consists of traditional Italian dishes as well as some very creative dishes. It includes hot and cold appetizers, veal, quail, chicken, calamari, steak, pasta and more. Chianti South received the Wine Spectators Award of Excellence for three years in a row.

Calamari, mussels, just about any fish dish. My husband loves the veal parm.
Never had a bad meal here. Great wait - staff too!
What ISN'T good here? I'm a vegetarian so I've tried all the meat free entrees. Husband loves their veal and the calamari. Wine list is AMAZING.

The wine list is fantastic. The pasta is amazing, especially the gnocchi. The deserts are to die for. We always make sure we go to Chianti South every time we visit the Carolinas(we come every year)
Best Italian Restaurant period. Chicken Marsala is to die for. Great food, great service. Consistently very good year after year.
